Just got all the kinder enrollement forms. There is about 20 pages of stuff to fill out plus a handbook to read!

Cost for the year is $400, plus some extras so closer to $500. Gah! Money has been taken out of savings. Will have to tighten the budget even more to put the $’s back into savings so we can pay our insurance.

Ralph is cleaning the carpet in the girls bedroom right now. Looks good. Found a bunch of poo covered things I missed in the clean up yesterday. Heidi really got her mits on everything.

Dear Freaking God!

Heidi just tried to do it again. I’m getting dinner ready, she is sitting at the table. I turn around to see her climbing off her chair nappy in hand, poo covered finger about to smear the floor.

Oh My God!

I can’t deal with this. I just have no idea what to do. Well no idea apart from to clean the shit up.

I HATE ANTS

I hate these god damn ants that are infesting our home. Makes me feel like a terrible housekeeper. Nothing I can do will stop them.

I was the dishes after every meal. Not a pleasant task as the ants climb up my arms from the bench / dishes and they bite and it stings.

The floor is cleaned every day, sometimes even twice in a day.

I put clothes in the laundry to wash while the machine is going, come back to find those clothes over run with ants.

The rubbish bin is always covered in them.

For some reason they love soy milk so any container that has had soy milk touch it ends up black with ants.

I can’t surface spray everywhere - they come out the taps, under the stove.

Even drying out the sink and cleaning of the benches 4 or 5 times a day does nothing to stop them.

I HATE ANTS

Today has sucked mightily.

Started with Leechboy waking me at 4.30am, or rather his alarm woke me but not him so I had to wake him.

He has a small lump under one arm which meant he was unable to put the rubbish out so while I was stumbling around in the dark I ran into a rubbish bin covered in ants. ICK Those buggers bite.

Once he was off to work I started pottering around the kitchen which is when I discovered the freezer door had been left ajar all night. Grrr Aparently small lumps under the arm mean one can not shut doors properly either.

Thankfully most of the stuff was still frozen and the defrosted stuff we can eat today.

The girls were up early and both very cranky. I got them settled with breakfast but Annie refused to eat.

Dora the Explora and Hi5 gave me blessed hour of peace.

Then they went outside and started ripping up the garden.

I found a giant pile of paper Thylacine had given us last week and distracted the girls with paints.

That was great. I managed a sit down, read 5 pages of Return of the King and drank an actual hot cup of coffee.

After a couple of hours their arms started getting a little pink and I figured it was time to wrap up the painting.

Tantrums ensued.

Then there was lunch which Annie refused to eat. Heidi took a couple of bites and then stole my watermelon.

After lunch there were more screaming tantrums.

I put Heidi into her bed for a nap and Annie happily sat down to play with some jigsaw puzzles.

Peace. Another 5 pages of ROTK and a hot cup of coffee.

Toilet break and I thought I smelt something suspicious from Heidi’s room.

Go in. She is covered in poo, the bed is covered in poo, the cupboards and drawers are covered in poo. The carpet…dear god the carpet.

Cleaned up Heidi - more screaming, she hates the bath. Several times she had one foot on my shoulder and one on the edge of the bath and her head hanging backwards near my knees, she was so desperate to escape.

I cook up some mini Savaloy sausages for the girls. Leave half in the pan on the stove (in the hot water I’d boiled them in) for me. My reward for cleaning the shit up.

Time to face that bedroom.

First I throw out our complete May Gibbs collection - poo, our entire Dr Seuss collection and Peter Rabbit - again poo. Stealed myself to clean the two bedtime books because I didn’t want to face bedtime tonight without them.

Then I wipe down the furniture. In the process i manage to spill 1/4 bucket of water down the insides of the heater. I’ve turned it upside down to drain out but still a little worried about using it.

Attempted to clean the carpet but it is still gross and stinky. Have initiated a transfer of funds from our savings account so I can hire a proper carpet cleaner tomorrow.

Now have giant tub of cloths and towels soaking in bleach.

Cleaning the room all finished I clean up me and go for my special sausage treat. Discover those damn ants have invaded the stove and my sausages are no longer red but black from the covering of ants. Took me so long to clean the room the boiling hot water had cooled off.

Put kettle on. Make another coffee, ignore no caffine after midday rule and use the real stuff.

Pull out bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough from fridge and eat that instead.

Try to post my story online but computer keeps turning itself off. Find fan, plug in, turn it on computer and now PC runs fine. Assume one of the three internal fans has decided to kick the bucket. Hope it is not the one we just replaced.

Leechboy has a doc appointment for 9am tomorrow to check the lump under his arm.

Tonight is meant to be regular weekly dinner with FIL but I’ve cancelled.

Once the girls are asleep I’m going to find my fav. blankie, pillow and one of Leechboys shirts and watch NCIS and the OC. If anything interfers with that plan Og damn well better Smite!

I Feel So Mean

Annie (3yo) has been so difficult lately about cleaning up her toys at the end of the day.

This evening I asked her to help me tidy up the toys. She said “No” (well more shouted “NO”). That was the last straw, she has been pushing boundaries with tidy up time for weeks now.

Time out has not worked, putting toys out of reach has not worked. There were no toys of Annies out that I would miss greatly, so….

I told her I was going to count to 3 and if she was not helping by the time I got to 3 then her toys were going in the rubbish.

Heidi (2yo) was helping pack up the blocks and generally being very good.

I counted to three, Annie ran to her bedroom and slammed the door shut, screaming at me that “I not help pack up”.

So Heidi and I packed up Heidi’s toys. Then I got a garbage bag and put Annies toys in it.

She is now sobbing her heart out for her doctors kit that was included in the toys thrown out. I feel so mean but also think this is about the only way she will learn that mummy means business.

I want to go to bed

but I can’t because young Heidi is AWAKE and will not go to sleep.

She skipped her midday nap today and so by 5.30pm she was knackered and went to sleep.

Then the boy decided to watch a movie - very loudly - on the computer which woke her up. He is now happily asleep and I’m up and waiting for this darn toddler to fall asleep. Practically nodding off myself.

Very tempting to just go to bed myself and let her go but I worry that she will get out of the bedroom and hurt herself. Or even just hurt herself in the bedroom.

GO TO SLEEP
GO TO SLEEP
GO TO SLEEP

Mum is tired and cranky so please just go to sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve started a new cross stitch today for a friend and his fiancee, a wedding gift.

SIL started it in 2000 to give Leechboy and I for our wedding and I’m very pleased she never finished it as we ended up with a gorgeous quilt holder for our wedding quilt instead.

It is 1/4 done and I’ve already discovered all the beads are missing.

Plus there is lots of metallic threads which are a bitch to sew.

OTOH it costs me nothing but time to do this so Yay

What the finished cross stitch should look like -

Australia Day

Australia Day BBQ at my place today. 4 in laws, S & J, Ralph and myself plus 4 children under 3yo.

Should be lots of fun.

I like this having two parties in the one week. Worried it was going to be really stressful but turns out once you’ve cleaned the house for one party having another two days later is really easy.

Just had to pick up and put away a few things but the big cleaning had already been done.

Ralph is out in the backyard stressing about weeds and the sand that has fallen out of the sandpit. I am happy as it is.

One hour before we start, the food prep is all done, tables are set, clothes line has again been turned into a tent.

Now I can have a shower, dress and drink my coffee with no worries.

I’ve been having fun explaining to Annie what Australia Day is all about. It is the day the white people came to Australia and stole the aboriginals land. Today is the day we say sorry to the aboriginals and that is why it is a special day. Pretty confusing stuff for a 3 year old.

Heidi is 2 years old

It is Heidi’s birthday today. 2 Years Old!!!

I can’t believe it. Time sure does fly.

We had all the playgroup children (and their mothers) come over today for a birthday party.

Both the jumpoline and bouncy castle were been inflated. Our lounge room is looking like one yellow sea of bouncy plastic.

I’ve made a tent out of our clothes line and we were planning to eat outside but it started raining so we had a picnic inside.

In honour of Heidi’s second birthday we are giving away all her sippy cups and she is progressing to drinking out of normal cups. Huge change. This is mostly an issue for Leechboy and I as it is easier to give her a sippy cup of milk and not have to worry about spills. Heidi has been wanting regular cups for a while but it is sooo messy. Time to let her be a big kid.
