Annie insisted on going to bed wearing her new Batista shirt, she would not take it off. I went in to check on her and the Batista doll was still tightly held in her hand. Methinks I may need to buy another shirt so I can at least wash them occasionally.

Batista
I don’t know what it says about my parenting skills that Annie had a tantrum in the DVD shop today because they didn’t have any Batista wrestling DVDs (only DX and Hogan). She then used her pocket money to buy a Batista wrestling doll and a Batista T-shirt.
She kept saying as we walked around the shops: “he walks around naked with just his undies like me mummy”.
Daddy Mamma
I love that Heidi has finally stopped calling me “Daddy”, I am now “Mamma”.
Diet, coffee, childcare
My good news. I’ve lost 1.5kilograms in my first fortnight of the new regime.
Dietitian has asked me to avoid eggs, pastry and cola drinks as she thinks those may be upsetting my tummy. After a week I have to slowly introduce small amounts of egg into my diet and document what happens.
After that I went over to Preston to pick up some registered mail, only to discover I had to get it from the Greensborough post office. D’Oh.
Visited S and we were on our way out for coffee when Childcare rang and asked me to come pick up Heidi who was causing problems. At least she managed almost 2 hours there this time.
Then we hit the plaza for coffee, finally :grin. Annie managed to talk S into buying her a Pasta Zoo Happy Meal, amazing powers of pursuasion that child has. The girls had lots of fun playing in the plaza playground and it was great to talk to an adult for a while.
Felt really blah last night, that may have had something to do with not getting dinner until after 9pm. I thought FIL was coming over for dinner but he just wanted a cup of tea and a chat. Girls were so excited to see him they would not go to bed. I ended up shutting them in the bedroom at 9pm just so I could have a break and something to eat. Thankfully they fell asleep while I was fixing my dinner.
Stuff
Lasagna was a big hit. Everyone wanted seconds. Will be interesting to see if it is as popular this evening.
Heidi was off her game in music again today, she was more interested in standing up the back and watching everyone than participating. I’m going to buy the music class CDs to see if the girls respond better when they’ve had some practice at home.

Vegetable Lasagne

recipe
Made a sort of vegetable lasagne tonight for dinner. Was meant to use silverbeet/chard but had run out so subsituted brocolli instead.
Ist layer was one whole butternut pumpkin, cooked, then mashed. I lightly sauteed an onion, added the mashed pumpkin and 2/3 cup of vegetable stock. then simmered for 5min to reduce the liquid content.
2nd layer was angel hair pasta (cooked) - half the bag.
3rd layer a 600ml bottle of tomato pasta sauce.
4th layer the other half of the angel hair pasta (cooked)
5th layer, smashed cooked broccoli mixed with 250g ricotta and 300ml of cream.
6th layer, fresh grated mozzarella.
Cook in moderate oven for 30min.
The recipe says it is 25g of fat per serve and I can believe that. I tried to buy reduced fat ricotta, cream and mozzarella but that doesn’t make a huge difference.
Now I’m going to kick back and watch the Marine with John Cena.
Church
Church went well this morning. Both girls were really well behaved up until the childrens address, the Annie went to Sunday School with Ralph and Heidi stayed in Church with me.
At that point Heidi decided she wanted to climb up the back of the pew in front of us. No-one was sitting in it and the pew kept tipping backwards. We were sitting in the second front row so I felt like the whole church was watching me. Managed to get her settled down playing with a troll doll and ObiWan doll. Then about halfway through the sermon she lay down on the floor and started screaming.
Thankfully she quietened down with lots of hugs. Communion was fun, she saw me get a wafer and shouted ‘Cookie’ increasingly loudly as Pastor walked away without giving her a wafer. Then it was time to play dodgy the sticky fingers whilst she tried to grab my wafer and I tried to hold it out of her reach without looking like a total idiot. Ended up feeling like I could have flagged down several airplanes with all my arm/wafer waving. Dipped the wafer in the wine without incident and then fled into the Church hall.
Ralph took Heidi off my hands, I visited Annie in Sunday School, for some reason she had a label stuck on the front of her dress which said “DEVIL”. More apt for her sister but hey if the sticker fits!
After the service I had one of the older Church ladies come up to me and say I’d done a great job under pressure with Heidi today. That felt good. She apologised for not coming over to help during the service but wasn’t sure if she would have made it worse.
There is a fundraiser on at Church this afternoon - slot car racing. Mostly for older age group but I think the girls and I will go along which gives Ralph a good chance to sleep in preparation for working nightshift.
No Sleep Make Me Cranky
Been feeling off colour the last day and a bit. Ralph offered to let me sleep in yesterday, but he couldn’t control the girls and they woke me up. So I tried for an afternoon nap, but Heidi lay on the floor outside my bedroom and kept kicking the door which put paid to that idea.
Once again this morning Ralph offered to let me sleep in, but the girls thundering up and down the corridor outside the bedroom woke me up.
He is starting night shift and wants to get his sleep patterns swapped around, so he wants a nap this afternoon.
I think I will be taking the girls out to a park or maybe over to visit S & J. I know TLT who is staying with them had his bucks night last night and toddlers visiting should just be the perfect wake up call for him.

Wow Look At Dat
Heidi has a new catchphrase.
“Wow, look at dat”
sometimes
“Wow, look at dis”
is so cute, she gets really excited about the most mundane things and jumps up and down on the spot pointing and exclaiming ‘Wow, look at dat” until you come and get excited too.
