Playgroup today was great. We have a new mum attending with a 4 year old girl and a 15 month old boy.
To start we all sang good morning to bumble bee, a hand puppet I had from when the girls did music. Bumble bee would sing good morning to each child and they had to then sing back “good morning bumble bee”. Then we did our butterfly song and ‘Jesus Loves Me’.
I visited the local Christian Bookshop on the way to playgroup this morning and have ordered a CD with those two songs on it. While there I impulse purchased 3 books about god and animals. Read the books after singing and they were a big hit.
Then the kids had a bit of a run around. After we made Easter Egg nests and went on an Easter Egg Hunt.
Lots of fun.
The Church kitchen is now booked on Thursday mornings by a charity group who cook up goodies and sell them. Money raised is put towards making quilts and buying childrens furniture to send to an orphange in Liberia. I’m thinking of volunteering to help out with the quilting - I can cross stitch squares for them.
We had to leave playgroup early because the girls had a hairdressers appointment. Both Annie and Heidi screamed the place down when it came to getting their fringe cut. Going back in 4 weeks, I hope regular visits will get them used to it. Plus sometimes the only way to get the Weet-Bix out of their hair is to cut it.
Then we went to the local balloon/fancy dress/party shop and ordered 50 helium balloons for Annie’s birthday party at the end of April. Lady there was very nice but also insisted I carry Heidi the entire time as she didn’t want sticky fingers on the costumes. Fair enough but ouch my arm.
From the party shop we went to the local shopping centre/mall. My niece who works at Jesters Pies had 50 party pies (mini pies) for me to pick up. They are all frozen and were all free (yay) and will be perfect for Annie’s birthday party.
After that it was 1pm and so I took the girls up to the food court for lunch. I lined up at McDonalds and they ran into the playground. Heidi went straight into the gated area. When it was my turn to order I stopped watching the girls, gave my order and paid. Then turned back to see where the girls were, all of about 2 minutes later. Spotted Annie but no Heidi inside the gated area, Annie said she let her out.
Started looking for her inside the big kids play equipment, still no Heidi. Heard screams from the other side of the food court which sounded like her. Sure enough there she is with some stranger carrying her back. The lady caught her running into the car park and tells me off for not watching my child. I thank the lady and finally collect my food tray from McDonalds.
Sit down with the girls, they eat. Heidi has no interest in going back to the playground, she is sticking with me. Annie has a good run around and a play, I have a hot coffee.
We leave, with thankfully little protest. Get in the car, drive home. I park the car in our driveway and then burst into tears. Surprised I managed to stay calm for so long really.
