4 years old today!

I woke up at 4am this morning and tried to figure out why I was awake at 4am. Then I remembered, this day 4 years ago I woke up at 4am because my bed was soaking wet.

While it didn’t click at the time a quick trip to the hospital later in the day showed my waters had broken and were very slowly leaking out - no big flood thank goodness.

Later that day Annie was born and what an amazing ride it has been since.

Post from the day Annie was born

So I’m Having a Baby Today

God laughs at people who make plans - or so I’ve been told.

Today is my first day of maternity leave. I had a lovely two weeks of relaxing planned before my cesarean section on May 19.

At 4.30am this morning I woke up to a slight trickle of liquid and though “oh dear god I’ve finally lost control of my pelvic floor”. Thought nothing more of it until there was some bloody discharge. Visited the hospital and the doctor did an exam - and it appears my membranes have indeed ruptured!

So at 6pm this evening I am having a C.Section and sometime after that Leechboy and I will finally be able to meet our daughter!

Still in shock here - they have sent us home from the hospital to pick up a few final things and to kill some time.

So strange. I only finished work yesterday. We put my hospital bags in the car this morning ‘just in case’ but didn’t think we’d need them.

I’m having a baby today

Proud Mummy Moment

Grandad Jim gave Annie her some money for her birthday and today we wandered over to Coles to see what was in the toy aisle.

She walked right past the Barbie dolls, paused to consider a SlutsRUs doll but thankfully moved on. We discussed bendy straws and playdoh, then she saw it… the King Booker doll!

Just as she started jumping up and down with glee and calling out “King Booker, I want King Booker, look mummy King Booker, its really King Booker, I want King Booker” her Sunday School teacher walked up to say hello.

Sunday School teacher and King Booker got introduced to each other. Then we made our way to the check out where she got out her money and paid for King Booker.

Long Live The King!

(Sorry Batista it looks like you’ve been replaced in the Toddler Idol stakes. Possibly due to your suspect involvement in the disapperance of Bride Barbies Groom.)

Housework Day

Been a busy day catching up on housework from the party and all the regular stuff.

So far I’ve put 4 loads of washing through the machine and hung them out on the line to dry. Folded and put away the 4 loads I did yesterday.

The girls beds have been stripped of the dirty sheets and clean bedding is waiting to go on.

Washed 3 lots of dishes and now only have the tupperware to go. Would be more dishes but I’ve been using up the paper plates and plastic cups since the party and just throwing everything in the bin. Not very environmentally sound I know but it has made my life much easier.

Vaccumed the kitchen floor, still need to mop it. Have not attempted vaccuming the lounge room as there are so many teeny tiny Barbie doll shoes, hair brushes, necklaces and stuff scattered around in there I’m sure I’d vac. them all up. Will have to sit and make sure everything is accounted for first and then vaccum.

The girls have been alternating between well behaved and horrid. Annie in particular is being difficult. I think she is tired still, she got up at 5am. Perhaps some Mylanta before bed tonight to help her sleep. We need to get maple syrup from the shops for her Birthday pancake breakfast tomorrow. Also have to get some Natural Confectionary Company lollies for childcare. This birthday stuff seems like it never ends.

My friend who took photos at the birthday party emailed me this one - it really shows just how messy things got.

Missing Groom Found

I’ve had a very exciting day today looking for our missing groom. Thank you to everyone for checking their bags to make sure he’d not started on his journey to Africa.

I’ve stripped beds, emptied cupboards, checked in the pantry, fridge, freezer and oven. Combed the garden beds, walked around the front lawn area, checked over the fence and behind the blackboard. I went through 3 large bags of rubbish, the bucket of dirty painting tools, 2 boxes of recycling and no groom was to be found. I then crawled around the house at toddler height and tried to think like a toddler would when hiding a Groom, with no success.

Somewhat dejected the girls and I sat down to dinner. As I pushed Heidis seat into the table I recalled that our dining table has a recess underneath the top for the middle extension leaf. So I lay down on the floor and look up at the bottom of our table. Lo and behold there was the missing groom snuggled up to the missing cake. Both girls thought it was very exciting and we all celebrated by lying on the floor under the dining table and eating our dinner.

Annie has now taken control of the Groom and reunited him with his Bride. Batista has been released from his prison cell as it seems he wasn’t after the Bride for himself after all.

One very relieved mummy signing off.

I’m bored… well not so much bored as out of sorts.

There are many things I could be doing and many things I should be doing but I really am not interested in any of them.

I have done some washing - no clean towels in the house was somewhat of a motivating factor. But there is little entertainment in stuffing a washing machine and then a tumble drier full of towels.

Tried to do some cross stitching but the rug rats were difficult and so that got packed away.

Feels like it should be night time already. Both girls have been psycho today. Post birthday party fallout?

One of the birthday gifts has gone missing. I suspect foul play. Annie is not happy that her Groom has gone missing, who will the Bride marry now mummy? perhaps your Batista doll? No mummy he’s a wrestler they don’t be grooms. Oooohkay.

Dinner is in the slow cooker. Ralph is sleeping. The girls are fighting - thats all they’ve done today is fight and fight and fight.

Heidi’s feet are still pink from painting yesterday.

Can today be over please?

Party day

Party turned out fantastically well.

We ate, we drank, we went outside and the kidlets sprayed silly string everywhere.

Then we moved onto cupcake decoration which was great fun although very few of the cupcakes actually got eaten.

Finally the pink paint came out which was a HUUUUUUUUGE hit. Baths for all followed the painting D Next time I send out an invitions telling people to dress for messy play I reckon they really will dress for messy play spikey

Most people left at 4pm. One single BIL and a married BIL, his wife and their 4 children stayed to dinner.

All in all a great afternoon was had by all. Even Annie had fun despite the rather messy reminder that she has to be careful how much fizzy drink she consumes.

Lots of Walking Today!

What a day. S & J were most awesome and looked after the girls while I went grocery shopping. Big Thank You to both of them as the girls have been a handful and a half this week and I really needed the break.

Checked our post office box and found that we have FINALLY been approved for credit cards. We are going to leave them with friends. That should stop impulse purchasing but leave at least one card accessible for emergencies if one of our card keepers is out of town. Also our tax return paperwork from June last year has arrived. We are getting a refund - enough to cover our private health insurance fees. Woo!

After shopping I collected the girls, we came home, unpacked the perishables and then walked to Annie’s Kinder. Walking to Kinder on top of the treadmill, by gosh do I feel righteous. Met SIL L at Kinder who was going shopping with nephew N while young Nephew M was at Kinder with Annie. So we decided to walk to the shops together.

That plan went really well until SIL Ls pram got a flat. We went to KMart and tried to pump up the tyre. No luck so SIL L purchased the tyre pump and a puncture repair kit. We then took turns carrying nephew N who is a right wiggle pot back to the Kinder. He walked for a bit, got tired, pee’d on his mum - kids! Eventually we put nephew N in Heidi’s pram and she walked. That worked much better.

Picked up Annie from Kinder, walked home, feeling less righteous and more tired by that stage. Got home, unpacked the rest of the shopping, woke up Ralph, bathed girls, attempted to catch up on laundry (why do I bother?), made dinner for the girls and lunch for the boy.

Now to clean the kitchen and living area for tomorrows party. I’m thinking of just taking everything out of both rooms and putting it all in my bedroom. Then I will lock my bedroom door and no-one will be any the wiser.

Oh and I managed to tip boiling water from the kettle onto my hand instead of into the coffee cup! I really have to stop doing stupid shit like that.

Not done much stitching the last few days. Think I may make time tonight as I really need some R&R.

Treadmill

Got up early and did a full 25 minutes on the treadmill today. Going to try and do that 6 days a week from now on. There is no point trying to fit treadmill time into my usual routine because it is already full. Thus I get up early.

Great Day Today

Today was awesome, fantastic and brilliant all rolled into one. Started off with us finding out the boy has got lots of extra $$$’s in this weeks pay. So we celebrated with a McBreakfast.

Then the girls and I left Ralph to catch up on his sleep while we went to Playgroup. The playgroup co-ordinator was not there but her MIL came along with co-ordinators 3yo daughter. Was great having a grandma/ Oma to play with the children. Pastor Brett came over and we had a sing a long. Was all good.

Afterwards because we again had no water today SIL L asked us to go to her place. Which was great, she supplied lunch and offered to babysit the girls while I went shopping.

Heidi was really tired so I left Annie playing at SIL L’s and took Heidi with me. That was inspired as Heidi fell asleep in the stroller, thus catching up on some much needed shut eye. Not only did I manage to shop but I also got my hair cut for the first time in months.

When I got dressed this morning I realised I only had two pair of underpants in my closet the rest have been thrown out. So I purchased all new underwear for myself, even found a lovely bra and matching panties set in my size - pink and lacy no less, pretty impressive for a 16DD. Ralph has requested a private showing later.

Now we are home, the girls have eaten vast amounts of watermelon and are happily chilling with their dad. I get mummy alone time with my coffee, my chocolate (screw the diet) and my internet. The world is a great place.

What a Day

Yesterday was a shocker. Both girls really tired, very difficult and I wasn’t much better. Stuff got broken, I burned my hand twice (doing the same thing no less, you think I’d learn). Then I dropped a large and very heavy screw driver on my foot, it landed point down in the cuff of my jeans, so I just missed a very bad ouchy. Was so tired yesterday that I just couldn’t keep a hold of stuff, was slipping and dropping things all day.

Managed to get the girls calmed in the afternoon by getting out the cardboard chinese take away boxes that Niece R had given to me. The girls coloured the boxes in and I wrote the names of each of our party guests on the boxes. Then we put a toy in each box and lollies as well.

Ralph got up at 3pm and I went to pick up some cross stitch and embroidery magazines that I scored on Freecycle. Now I have a whole bunch of new projects I’m keen to try. Got home and Ralph left to do the audit of the AV system at the Church.

The girls went ballistic, they’ve hardly seen Daddy in days and then he disappears after an hour. FARK! That was …. not fun. I bribed them to calmness with fairy bread sandwiches and Cindarella on DVD. Ralph got home at 6pm and I went to lie down while he gave the girls a bath and put them to bed. Somehow I managed to fall asleep fully clothed - shoes and all. Heidi on the other hand refused to sleep.

I went in to her at 8pm, sang “Jesus Loves Me” while fixing up her blankets, then I gave her a cuddle, she held my hand and went straight to sleep. Yay for mummy power!

Really need to get the house clean before Annie’s birthday party and I don’t want to be exhausted on the day of the party so I need to start cleaning now. So hard though with no water on Tuesday, yesterday was a write off with cranky children - although I did get the laundry floor clean, but forgot to do the sink which is where I’m going to be putting ice and drinks. Today we have no water again. Tomorrow I’m grocery shopping and Saturday is party day. AUUUUUUUUUUUURGH!

Plus I’ve compounded my geekhood by joining the dGeek forums.
