6 weeks since we got given a label for Heidi. Amazing how much life can change and yet not change at all in 6 short weeks.
Paed today was great. She is really strongly opposed to us moving to Halls Gap if by some freak chance I actually get the job.
We talked some about the possibility that Heidi might get into the Diamond Valley early intervention school. The Paed was really enthusiastic about that and has agreed to arrange for Heidi to get the CARS thingumy done. Although the Paed did wonder why the school wouldn’t take the results from the test at LaTrobe. I figure the school has to have all children tested on the same scale so they know exactly how the children fit in.
She filled in a bunch of other forms for us and did a physical exam of Heidi. Annie and Ralph had both come along to the consult and I was worried Annie would prove a distraction. Turned out she was a great help as the Paed did all the tests on Annie first while Heidi watched. Big sisters are good for something :grin.
All is good and we shouldn’t have to see her again for a while. Once the Halls Gap issue is settled I might go back to talk to her about how to toilet train Heidi. She has been wanting to get out of nappies for ages but so far my attempts at toilet training her have not been successful. As Heidi and Ralph communicate new ideas* better than she and I do this may be an area where Daddy leads and Mummy follows.
* I have a strong suspicion this is because they are both very visual thinkers.
Edited to add - from the CARS website I linked above.

Toenail and fingernail clipping/cleaning
It may be an exaggerated fear of being cut, a desire to not lose a part of oneself, or the metallic clicking of the clippers, but many children with PDDs hate this grooming task. It’s best if kids learn to do it for themselves as early as possible, although those with fine-motor problems may find it difficult.
Curved toenail clippers are larger and easier to operate than smaller fingernail clippers, and can do both jobs passably. This is another job that parents can do while a child is asleep.
Glad I’m not the only person in the world who sneaks in during the night to cut their childs finger nails. Still can’t get the toenails done without risking major injury to myself.
On the suggestion of a friend I’m trying to find somewhere I can orderer these butterfly nail clippers from. Been having trouble with the American orders. Have emailed a bunch of Aussie baby products suppliers to see what I can come up with.
Did not get any stitching done yesterday as I had a very cheeky monster who would not sleep.
Little bits I’ve been meaning to post.
Annie has started writing her name. She wont do it for me but will for anyone else - including the girl who served us at the McDonalds party on Saturday.
Last night after dinner Annie said to me “Queen Annie has a full tummy after that lovely dinner thank you Mummy. Please be excused now?”
Of course after that very nice comment and polite request to be excused how could I say no. So she left the table while Heidi and I continued to eat. Annie went straight from the table, grabbed a tea towel walked into the lounge and pee’d on the floor, then cleaned it up with the tea towel she’d carried in there. :eek
The girls have been playing together really well. Last night they tag teamed up with extreme cuteness to avoid bed. Did not work all that well.
Heidi is getting pretty good at trying to sneak out of her room at night to avoid going to bed.
