Confetti Stitches and pictures

Slow going, lots of confetti stitches in this next bit.

Was going to focus on stitching this morning but Hubby has left his work keys at home. Looks like an impromptu train trip for the girls and I once this post is completed.

Our scanner isn’t working so I’ve tried to take pictures of some of the pictures we got done . I only wanted one picture of each of the girls and then one picture with them together. Instead we ended up with 2 individual sets of each girl and 3 of them together - 7 sets all up. Was pretty good value, each set includes a 10×13 inch poster, A4 size picture, A5 size , 2 x regular photo size, then a wallet strip with 2 x 3×2 inch pictures and 4 2×2 inch pictures.

These 3 pictures are the one’s hubby is getting for fathers day. I’ve sorted all the rest of the pictures to give out for fathers day/birthdays. Actually does fix some gift issues I was having so hopefully will turn out to be money well spent in the end.

Bit more progress

Did get a little more progress done on my stitching yesterday. Really didn’t feel like I did much but comparing it to the last shot does show that I’m moving forward.

Dad had something called a platelet embolism yesterday. I don’t know what that is, if it is good, bad, ugly or much else. The doctors wanted him to stay in hospital, he discharged himself. I hope he stays okay.

Thank you for the ballet dancer links Chiloe they are adorable. I’ve promised hubby no more spending money for a few months so will have to add them to my wishlist.

Money :: sigh:: I seem to have spent $277 on the mobile phone last month. EEK! Then yesterday I went out to look at some professional photos we’d had done of the girls, they were so cute and I just couldn’t decide what to get - plus I was a little worried about dad and not really thinking straight - ended up buying all the pictures at $280. So I’m handing my credit card over for safekeeping and trying to remember to call people on the landline, not the mobile.

My work in progress at last night. Doing okay. The colours seem odd but they match the picture I downloaded. Hopefully it will all work when it is finished.

And here are some pictures of the girls playing with their gem hunt thing.

I know GeekDad Blog had a hack for doing this yourself (making the whole thing) but I can’t find it now.

Annie trying out the goggles.

Heidi liked the goggles - she has worn them most of the day until they broke.

CraaaaaaaaaCK

More Heidi with goggles cuteness.

edited - found it Geek Dad Link

He has been checked out, seen a nuerologist and sent home.

Apparently he slept overnight at the office last night.

Doctors have told him that he must take time off work and rest. So he is taking tomorrow off and going back on Saturday to catch up on the time he is missing. Just like a doctor he is ignoring doctors orders ::rolleyes and grin::

I’m very relieved he is okay.

I was going to post something but the phone rang.

My Dads been taken to hospital. Low blood pressure and visual disturbance. Not sure what the problem is as Mums phone started ringing again and she had to go.

Worrying because it takes a fair bit to get Dad to leave his patients and go to see a doctor himself.

Chiloe, I’m not familiar with the DMC Ballet Dancers? Can you send me a link?

Must have been tired yesterday I was in bed and asleep by 7.30pm. Didn’t wake up until 6.30am this morning. No stitching got done last night.

In the morning I did the kinder/childcare drop offs. Had a coffee with Ralph at the plaza, then went to the post office. Ralph has four days off in a row - woo hoo! But he is struggling to get his body clock out of nightshift mode. I had to rush off to get to the doctors by 10.15 - more forms to fill out for Centrelink. Then back to Kinder to pick up Annie.

I was early for the kinder pick up so I rang Centrelink about a letter they’d sent me. Just can not believe that they have turned down my application for Carers Allowance because I’ve not proved that Heidi lives with us full time. She is 2.5yo where else is she going to live? Had a battle with our caseworker who is based in North QLD. Not a great help for us who are in Melbourne - especial during those in person interviews we need to have. Got off the phone just in time to go in and get Annie.

Annie took her scrapbook album to kinder for show and tell. Some of the pages are pictures of her and Heidi that I took. Others are pictures that Annie took and chose to put into her album.

The teacher pulled me aside when I showed up at the end of the session to collect Annie. I was a little worried that I’d done something wrong. But apparently she thought the album was a brilliant idea, very Reggio Emilia which the teacher is big into. I’d inadvertently hit on one of their main philosophies - helping Annie find her place within the community through pictures. End result of the somewhat confusing discussion (confusing for me anyway) was that Annie’s kinder teacher thinks I should look at a carer teaching.

I’m glad she liked the scrapbook album but really it was just me being desperate for something to keep Annie happy and entertained.

After kinder Annie and I raced over to K-Mart and picked up some toys we had on layby for birthday presents. Annie was not impressed that they were not for her.

Went go Heidi from childcare, then it was haircut time. I woke Ralph up and he came with us. Annie was very good for a change so she got her Pasta Zoo Happy Meal reward. While the girls and Ralph played at the indoor playcentre in the plaza I went to visit Riot Art again.

Got a present for Annie, a little something for her and Ralph to play with on his days off this week - Rock and Gem Dig. Looks really cool.

She is a little young for it but I thought with Daddy’s help it should be fun. Plus Annie loves rocks - she stuck another 6 from the kinder playground in her bag today.

As Ralph said ‘any toy that comes with safety goggles is bound to be fun’.

We got home about 2.30pm and it was back to bed for Ralph. The girls and I played for an hour then back in the car again to go see Aunty Lee we had a lovely catch up. The girls got a big bag of Barbie’s and accessories that their older cousins no longer need/want. I dragged myself and the girls away at 5.30pm, we all wanted to stay longer but it was getting late.

Got home and remembered it is Tuesday - FIL will be coming to dinner. So I quickly started throwing food together. Woke Ralph up and everything was almost ready by the time FIL knocked on the door. I excused myself early and went to bed. Way to much rushing around yesterday.

More backstitch! I sure can pick ‘em. :grin

Just starting on the pink ribbon. The grid is actually helping a great deal because I started in the top right corner. Never done that before, usually I start in the centre, so I’m all turned around and confused each time i look at the pattern.

Looking through my stash last night I found another little finish that I have put in a frame (found the frame when we were cleaning out some of MILs stash).

Wrestling was great. Such a shame Cena didn’t loose :sadness:

That is too cute Tannia :)

I wandered across to Lincraft today to see if they had any of the threads I needed. Of course they didn’t. So I tried Riot Art and they had a huge DMC range plus some cool new craft things for the kids. I must remember it is not just a childrens toy shop but an actual arts and crafts store.

Change of Plans

I realised today that it would be my Mother-in-law Heidi Snr’s birthday on 29th of September. She passed away from breast cancer in 2004 and I’ve been wanting to do Ursula Michael’s Pink Ribbon cross stitch for a while. So a birthday gift seems the right idea.

Here are a couple of pictures of Heidi. This first one is with Annie -

Annie spent a lot of time with Heidi and my FIL Jim, at one week old she was sleeping overnight with them. I was really sick with my Crohns disease and Annie spent more time at Heidi’s place than with me up until she was about 4 months old. She was an amazing woman my MIL, I was lucky to have known her.

This next picture is with her grandchildren, 3 are missing from picture as they were interstate. Another 3 are missing from the picture because they were not even a twinkle in their parents eyes at the time of the photo. And 1 is still in his mums belly.

We found out we were pregnant a couple of weeks after Heidi passed away so it seemed right that if we had a baby girl her name would be Heidi. Annie’s full first name is Anne-Marie which was MIL Heidi’s middle name, so both our girls are named after her.

And finally a link to the memorial video Ralph did for his mums funeral service.

I think I might go give my girls a hug now.

So I’m trying to be good and not spend anymore on the credit card until I’ve paid it off.

That of course means that today I purchased A Dogs Breakfast on DVD from Amazon.com.

Feeling snap happy today.

Took this one of Heidi at lunchtime.

Shopping centre carpark across the road.

Playing with the 7x zoom taking pictures of the birds in the top of the tree you can see on the left in the carpark shot.

Rosella 1

Rosella 2

And some more happy snaps of the girls.

Flowers from Annie.

Basketball.

Heidi Dunk.

Suppose I should go clean the kitchen floor… or maybe I should go look up some of those houses from the Grand Designs show. Tis Sunday after all, day of rest and what have you.
