5 years old today (yes that is a Metallica shirt
- they didn’t have a Queensryche one in her size, or the ‘My Chemical Romance’ hoodie she really wanted).
The day Annie was born just seems like yesterday, just click here to read all about it.
She was so little and now she asks for Metallica shirts for her birthday and WWE figures on her Pink Cake with her Dorothy the Dinosaur candle.
My amazing Annie asked for a dairy free cake also so that all her friends could have some birthday cake and no-one would miss out.
I’m so proud of her for asking her PreSchool friends to bring old towels and blankets to her party to donate to the Cat Protection Society instead of birthday gifts. We got a huge amount of old towels and blankets and I’m really grateful to all the children and their parents for honouring Annie’s birthday wish to help others.
Annie at bedtime last night - with her birthday DRD* and her new WWE bedspread and pillowcase. She was one happy girl.
I’m amazed at her language skills and ability to communicate. Just this week Annie said to me “Mummy when you talk about heaven it makes me apprehensive”. Simply blows me away.
I will leave with with a couple of pictures of Annie in a position we are growing increasingly familiar with
* Thanks to Lee at Quit Your Day Job for the DRD inspiration. And Happy Birthday to Lee who also turned another year older yesterday (30th April).

Comment by Joanne May 1, 2008 @ 4:35 pmOMG!!! That’s so cool you got Annie the DRD!!! Oh and Happy Birthday Annie!!! I still haven’t been able to take mine out of the plastic yet so I’m very jealous. Funny enough Tracey (my wife) got me a bag of little DRDs (the plastic ones about the size of a 20c coin)for my birthday so it’s nice to see Farscape still going strong especially in the next generation!
Comment by Lee May 1, 2008 @ 8:18 pmThank you everyone.
Lee - the mini DRDs sound very cool.
Annie got lots of birthday phone calls yesterday and told everyone about the DRD. They all thought she’d gotten DVDs, except for my 4yo nephew who knew better

I have to chuckle…my 5 yo has no clue who Metallica or Queensryche are (I barely do, myself…). But she does know Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and others from that era!
