Stuff With Thing

I have been a bad bad blogger

and you need to spank me  .

Okay, not really with the spanking but I have been a bad blogger.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone for your supportive comments about my Grandma and my medical dramas.  The comments have meant a great deal to me as I’m feeling pretty isolated right now as my stomach problems keep me from getting out and about like normal.

Being stuck at home isn’t all bad, check this out:

Stitching! Woo! My last stitching opportunity was back in June (see, good thing I blog about this stuff or I wouldn’t have know that).  Feels so good to pick up needle and thread again.

Annie has been sick with some cough / cold bug thing.  Today was photo day at her Pre-School so I took her but Heidi and I stayed ready to take Annie home should she start to get tired / sick again.  Went well, we ended up staying for the full 3.5 hour session. Both girls are exhausted now after all the playing they did.

I brought home 8 pages to make Picture Plates – a pre-school fundraiser – and we have spent the afternoon, drawing and colouring.  A little stressful with already tired children but lots of fun.  Everything has to be back tomorrow or I might have waited until then to do the plates.

We went to speech therapy yesterday for the first time in 6 weeks.  I’m struggling with Heidi learning He / She,   I’ve been showing her pictures of men and women from catalogs (cut out, plain paper stuck on the back and laminated – you really need the plain paper on the back so Heidi doesn’t turn it over and get confused by the picture on the back)…. digressed again.  Heidi calls 90% of them ‘He’ but mostly if it is a woman Heidi points to the “She” picture while saying “He”.  So frustrating.

I have these “He” and “She” pictures, one of either side of Heidi and when Heidi looks at the laminated catalog picture she points to “He” or “She” and also says “He” or “She”.

I forget what the speech therapist said exactly, a problem with “receptive language” or “expressive language”.  I’m thinking probably “expressive language” as receptive sounds like listening.

Anyways more practice.

We also have to work on Same and Different.  I’m going to use some Snap cards for that, I’ve got a basic set for children with really simple pictures on them.

Infront/Behind is another area we need to practice some more.

So much to do and so little time in the day.  I was up till 9pm last night making my kitchen into a semi clean state and it is like a bomb site again today.

Right, I’m going to go back to my dark corner and hide for a bit longer. Gots me some coffee and some chocolate over there and I ain’t sharing.

And hey look at that, I’ve made it to number 86 in the August list of Top 100 Australian Women’s Blogs. :D   Thank you. :)

Yeah !!!!!!!! Stitching :) I still love that one ;)

I still think they expect a lot of Heidi especially with the in front / behind – same / different. I taught kids 4 and 5 yo and I can tell you that this build slowly depending on each kid. You should not worry too much as you are doing the right thing. Like I told you I often compare with Steb as they are 1 or 2 months apart and she does more stuffs than him. What do you think? You never answer me about that …

Pierre is still confused with he/she sometimes when he speaks (they think it’s because english was first then french second when a bilingual kid usually builds both languages as the same time ).

Jeez, not fair you are not sharing the chocolate !!!

Okay, I was worried about the spanking thing – I’m really not good at that, but for you, I’d be willing to give it my best shot.

    ;)

Chiloe – Thank you for your comment. It is very reassuring to hear things like that.

Barbara – I appreciate that you’d give spanking a go for me
