Stuff With Thing

Treasure

The girls helped me clean out their bedroom yesterday. We sorted out toys, put everything back into its rightful spot.

Then we started on the clothes.

I emptied out Heidi’s drawer. What didn’t fit was put aside for her Cousin Mil. Everything was made tidy. Heidi was very happy to try on various outfits to see if they still fitted. I was surprised at how well she did and she stayed for her entire drawer.

Then it was the PJs, socks and undies drawer which was easy.

Finally Annie’s drawer. Once again I emptied everything out onto the floor. In the midst of all the clothing we scooped out there was a egg carton. Just a mini carton that holds 6 eggs, nothing special, I went to throw it aside.

“Noooooooooooooo” came the agonised wail from Annie.

“That is my treasure box”

She opened it up and inside carefully wrapped up in a clean handkerchief was a metcard.

A very special metcard.

A month or two ago Annie caught the train into the city with her Dad and this was her metcard from that trip.

The whole journey was a series of mini catastrophes.

It only occurred because hubby had lost his iPod and needed to go to work to see if it was there (it wasn’t, turns out it was at home all along).

The day trip ended in Annie falling between the train and the platform as they got out at our local statio. It was only hubbys quick reflexes that managed to grab her hand as she fell and avert a horrible accident.

A day of disasters both big and small, both at home and away and neither hubby or I was very happy by the end of it.

Yet there in Annie’s drawer months later, wrapped up in a handkerchief and placed in an egg carton for safety is the metcard from her day out with Daddy.

:: sniff ::

Tomorrow Annie and her Daddy go away for their two nights and two days, I hope there are many treasured moments during that time.

Correction: I lost my bank card, not the ipod. The card was eventually found in some old pants.

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go somewhere and cry some manly tears.

Hey Babe, bank card, iPod, minor details  Marita

Hang on, was that the metcard that was “lost” giving them no way to get home? I hope so, I love her evil streak.

S – She gets it from your side of the family  leechy
