Four Weeks of Shopping In One Go

I’ve had a few people ask how I manage to do 4 weeks of shopping in one go.

It is actually pretty easy. Because we shop fortnightly usually all I did was double the quantities of what we got.

Hardest part is fitting it all in the trolley but because we no longer need nappies/diapers during the day there was much more room than usual in the trolley. I also didn’t get bread as I knew we wouldn’t have room in the freezer for it. As we walked to the car I had stuff sliding off the trolley. Next time I might take a friend or hubby to push an extra trolley.

It helped that I got Soy Milk at a different store this time round as usually the UHT soy milk containers take up a lot of space.

The hardest part finding extra room in the freezer for everything. I was able to buy bulk packs of meat and them break them up into 500g ziplock bags. Worked out over the past few months of menu planning that most meals I make require 500g of meat so that seemed like the perfect breakdown.

With Hubby and the girls both being home on holidays for two weeks I did factor in we’d need more toilet paper and a few other bits like that.

I’m still doing my fresh fruit and veg shop weekly but did stock up on extra frozen veggies.

Now that the colder weather is here I’m going back to baking fresh bread at least every second day - heating up the oven to cook the bread keeps the kitchen / lounge nice and warm in the afternoon and the gas oven is cheaper to run the the electric heater.

Bit concerned that with our frantic school term timetable that I wont be able to do my bread baking and it is something I love to do. Will see how it goes.

World Peace

I think I know what the problem is. Why we do not have World Peace.

White Business Shirts.

Those suckers are evil and they create evil in the wearer.

Have you ever tried to keep a White Business Shirt clean? Sure it is easy if you have a job that does not involve anything messy like say….. breathing.

You get your pristine White Business Shirt, you spend hours of your life ironing the sucker so it is all starchy and crisp.

There is no sex because you are too exhausted after hours of ironing the White Business Shirt to want to indulge in any recreational fornication. (apologies to my parental units if they are reading this). And we all know that sex makes people more pleasant but no everyone is missing out because they spent hours ironing the White Business Shirt so they are all cranky.

Then you put your pristine starchy crisp White Business Shirt on that has deprived you of sex and you take your first breath whilst wearing it.

Instantly airborne particles are attracted to you and adhere to the no longer pristine but still starchy crisp White Business Shirt.

WHAM

There it is shades of grey are now colouring your no longer pristine but still starchy crisp White (slightly grey) Business Shirt.

So you’ve donned your no longer pristine but still starchy crisp White (slightly grey) Business Shirt being careful to put it on just before walking out the door so nothing else will cause it to loose the pristine white. Off you go to the car, train, bike whatever means of transportation gets you to the place that requires you wear a White Business Shirt.

In doing so you acquire wrinkles, thus your shirt is no longer starchy and crisp.

Really do I have to lay it out any further, all we need to achieve world peace is to rid ourselves of the no longer pristine, not even starchy or crisp, sex depriving, White (slightly grey) Business Shirt.

We made some money for the Kinder. Not as much as I’d hoped but still good.

Hot day kept many people away.

Why did my husband not hear me ringing the door bell and the phone for half an hour? Because he was asleep. Something I had not anticipated.

This is why whenever I need to be out at night I get a babysitter even if I know hubby is going to be home. Once he is asleep he is very hard to wake up, no phone, doorbell, alarm clock or any other noise gets through.

My good friend S used to live close to us and she has on many an occasion gone around to our house to wake up hubby because he was home looking after the children and fallen asleep. This was before his sleep apnea diagnosis. Now at least he no longer falls asleep during the day all the time. Still a very deep sleeper though.

Coeliac Disease

Chiloe’s comment reminded me that I should have linked to Coeliac Disease which is what we are getting Annie tested for.
Would also help if I knew how to spell it properly.

Basically it is a gluten intolerance, would mean no more, wheat, oats, barley, rye. Would mean a MASSIVE change in our diets as wheat is used in practically everything as a thickener.

More info - here.

Very busy day today.

I lost my eftpos/debit card this morning.

Realised it was probably at ALDI. You can’t ring the store to check - they don’t have phones for customer inquiries. So I was going to have to drive over there.

After a psychotic day of running around I decided that going to ALDI was just too much. I would live without the eftpos/debit card for a while.

Come home from paediatrician visit and check the mail box - new eftpos/debit card! WooHoo!

Seems my old card is due to expire and the new one has arrived to replace it. How cool is that.
