So far all it has done is make Heidi really upset that mummy and Annie are going away. Hopefully once we actually leave she will find the story a useful reminder that we are coming back again.

I would be seriously surprised if the clover cutter was not allowed on board. But anyway, what I’ve heard as an alternative is a pair of nail clippers to clip threads with. HTH
